Know Your Idol – Marvel Studios is trying its best to create all the characters in the iconic Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), this is by placing a character played by just one actor or actress. However, there are still unavoidable circumstances that result in being forced to replace a character with another actor. Below are 6 MCU characters who have changed actors.

1. Cassie Lang

Cassie Lang received a highly visible character change, young Cassie Lang starring as Abby Ryder Fortson in the films Ant-Man (2015) and Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018). Her teenage character was played by Emma Fuhrmann in Avengers: Endgame. Then, most recently, the actress changed back to Kathryn Newton in the film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023).

2. Red Skull

The character of Red Skull was starred by Hugo Weaving when he was the main villain in the film Captain America: The First Avenger (2011), but the actor was replaced by Ross Marquand when he returned as the guardian of the Soul Stone in the film Avengers: Infinity War.

3. Rocket Raccoon

It wasn’t the actor who was replaced, the Rocket Raccoon character was played by more than one actor. Bradley Cooper was assigned to be the voice actor, while Sean Gunn was tasked with being the actor who played Rocket’s movements and later created visuals using effects.

4. Bruce Banner

The second Avenger character featured in the MCU was originally starred by Edward Norton FOR4D, the actor and director did not have a single vision and mission so the character was replaced with Mark Ruffalo.

5. Thaddeus Ross

The character Thaddeus Ross, starring William Hurt, originally appeared in the film The Incredible Hulk (2008), Marvel had to give the character to Harrison Ford because William died.

6. Howard Stark

Tony Stark’s father appeared in the films Captain America: The First Avenger and Avengers: Endgame (2019), this character starred three actors, including John Slattery, Dominic Cooper and Gerard Sanders.
