Cillian Murphy Wins 2024 Golden Globe Awards Over Oppenheimer, Beats Leonardo DiCaprio
Know Your Idol – One of the categories that is awaited at the 2024 Golden Globe Awards, namely Best Male Lead Actor in a Drama Film, which went to Cillian Murphy for his biopic Oppenheimer. Playing the Father of the World Atom, J. Robert Oppenheimer, Cillian Murphy took the stage and said this victory marked 20 years of collaboration with filmmaker Christopher Nolan. Cillian Murphy beat one of the strongest candidates this year, namely Leonardo DiCaprio, who appeared convincing in the film Killers of the Flower Moon by living legend Martin Scorsese.
“I know, the first time working on a shooting location with Chris, it was different. The level of thoroughness, level of focus and dedication. “There is no room for confusion because I am in the hands of a visionary filmmaker, an expert,” said Cillian Murphy.
The actor joked by asking the audience if there were any lipstick marks on his nose. Remembering, Cillian Murphy’s wife was very happy to hear her husband’s name named as the winner.
Cillian Murphy then touched on teamwork. “I thank Chris (Nolan) and Emma (Thomas) for putting their full trust in me for 20 years. “One of the most beautiful things about being an actor is that you can’t work alone,” he explained.
“We have the most incredible ensemble cast in this film. They are truly magical. Some of them are here today, Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, Gary Oldman. Thank you for bringing and guiding me,” said Cillian Murphy.
Variety notes that this is Cillian Murphy’s first win at the Golden Globe Awards. Previously, he received a nomination for Best Male Lead in a Musical or Comedy Film in 2006 through the film Breakfast on Pluto.
The category for Best Male Actor in a Drama Film at the 2024 Golden Globe Awards is quite fierce. Cillian Murphy competes with five other actors.
He became the winner after eliminating Bradley Cooper (Maestro), Andrew Scott (All of Us Strangers), Colman Domingo (Rustin), Leonardo DiCaprio (Killers of the Flower Moon) and Barry Keoghan (Saltburn).
