Before becoming a Hollywood legend, Raquel Welch was a trained ballerina, beauty queen, and eventually, an actress. Her breakthrough came in the 1960s with roles in Fantastic Voyage (1966) and One Million Years B.C. (1966). It was the latter, where she famously wore a doe-skin bikini, that turned her into an international sex symbol. By the time she became a global sensation, Raquel was already a mother. She had two children with her first husband, James Welch, whom she married shortly after high school. The two later divorced in 1964, and Raquel went on to marry Patrick Curtis, André Weinfeld, and Richard Palmer, respectively.
The actress passed away on February 15, 2023, at the age of 82, following a brief, previously unreported illness. But you can still see more photos of her and her family below.
Raquel Welch was a Hollywood icon, through and through. As a 60s sex symbol, she made men around the world swoon. So it’s little surprise the star was able to snag four husbands during her life. Her first marriage was to James Welch (1959 and 1964), then to Patrick Curtis from 1967 to 1972. She was André Weinfeld’s wife between 1980 and 1990 and her longest union was with Richard Palmer, from 1999 to 2004.
“I’m too set in my ways,” the iconic actress told Piers Morgan on his Life Stories show in 2015 about why she hasn’t found lasting love. “I like what I do, I actually enjoy being me, and I make a very good living at it, and I’m happy. I don’t have to have a man.”
While her marriages didn’t stand the test of time, they did give her two lovely kids. Son Damon Welch was born in 1959 to father James. Their daughter, Latanne “Tahnee” Welch, was born in 1961.
