The late former President Jimmy Carter was honored during his funeral on Thursday, January 9, 2025. Carter, the first and only former president to live to 100, was commemorated throughout the week with several processions before his service at the Washington National Cathedral. Nearly every living former president and their spouses attended, including Donald Trump and Melania Trump, President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden, Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton, as well as George W. Bush and Laura Bush. Barack Obama was present, though former First Lady Michelle Obama was not in attendance.
Vice President Kamala Harris, Vice President-elect JD Vance, and former Vice Presidents Al Gore and Mike Pence were also among those present.
U.S. President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden were seen arriving at the funeral to pay their respects.
