Luigi Mangione was arrested and charged in connection to the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. Mangione, a 26-year-old engineer and Ivy League graduate, was found carrying a ghost gun and fake IDs in Altoona, Pennsylvania, less than a week after Thompson was shot in New York City in early December 2024.
The case has gripped the nation, with many speculating about the possible motive behind killing Thompson. Mangione comes from a wealthy Maryland family, and some of his former friends and classmates expressed their shock over his arrest in television interviews.
