A Series of Eccentric Styles from Chappell Roan, a Pop Star Who is on the Rise
Know Your Idol – Chappell Roan has been on the rise recently, not only because of his works which dominate the charts but also his unique appearance. Chappell Roan is taking the music world by storm and ushering in a new era for pop music filled with female power. Born Kayleigh Rose Amstutz on February 19 1998, this singer and songwriter’s career is an inspiring story of self-discovery and the courage to pursue dreams. From Missouri to Los Angeles, Chappell found his unique voice and found a path that suited him.
Chappell began his musical career playing the piano and writing melancholic songs which he posted on YouTube. In 2015, when he was 17 years old, he signed with Atlantic Records. However, moving to Los Angeles in 2018 was a turning point in his life.
“I was told that this city was bad. But when I arrived in Hollywood, my eyes opened. Everything I feared was not true,” said Chappell as reported by Highend.
Chappell’s culture in Los Angeles intrigued him. He started looking for beautiful and catchy pop music inspired by the night city. In 2020, she released the song “Pink Pony Club”, a hugely successful dance song that marked a major change in her music. However, this change had unexpected consequences. Atlantic Records terminated her contract because her songs did not meet expectations.
“I lost some fans, but I gained a lot of people who supported me. I think the brand understood me, but it was the best thing that could have happened,” Chappell said.
After returning to Missouri, Chappell worked in coffee shops and continued playing music. During this time, he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at the age of 22. This diagnosis gave him a deeper understanding of himself and allowed him to seek appropriate treatment. With the help of doctors, Chappell knew he wanted to be a bright and colorful star. “I’ve always loved bright things and cheetah prints. “I love everything pink, purple and sparkly,” she added.
In late 2020, Chappell moved to Los Angeles to continue writing music. She works odd jobs, such as babysitting and shopping. In 2022, Olivia Rodrigo asked him to embark on the Sour Tour, a huge moment that took Chappell’s career to the next level. Chappell’s stage persona is a larger, more expressive version of himself. “I think this guy is really fun to play, but he’s also really good. Off stage, I am an intelligent person who likes to be alone and play Fortnite,” he explained.
Chappell admits that success also brings problems, especially in dealing with negative messages on social media. However, Chappell remains strong and focused on his music career. With passion and determination, Chappell Roan continues to pursue his dreams and inspire many people through his music.
