King Charles III Gives Support to Gareth Southgate After Losing the Spain vs England Match in the Euro 2024 Cup Final

Know Your IdolKing Charles III also reacted to the defeat of his country’s national team in the Spain vs England match in the 2024 Euro Cup final. He shared a letter of support for Gareth Southgate, coach of the England national team, via his official social media account, @theroyalfamily.

“Even though you were unable to achieve victory tonight, I, along with my wife and family, urge you and your team to keep your heads up,” began Prince William’s father’s statement.

He continued, “Everyone who has ever participated in sporting activities at any level knows that a result can feel very disappointing when victory is so close.”

King Charles III emphasized that the England National Team’s achievements remained a brilliant result.

“I hope you know that reaching the final of the European Championship itself is a great achievement, and this is one thing that brings pride to the country, which will continue to roar like the Three Lions today,” he said.

The King of England closed his letter with an optimistic statement. “I’m sure there will be many victories to be achieved in the future.”

The course of the Spain vs England match

The first half of the Euro 2024 final was a goalless draw. Spain kicked off in the second half. Nico Williams made the score 1-0 for Spain with a goal in the 47th minute after using Lamine Yamal’s pass. Cole Palmer changed the score to 1-1 after his hard kick from outside the penalty box in the 73rd minute penetrated the Spanish goal. La Roja finally managed to make the score 2-1 after Mikel Oyarzabal scored a goal in the 86th minute after using Marc Cucurella.

King Charles III’s son, Prince William, even provided direct support for the England national team in the match which took place at the Olimpiastadion, Germany. He did not go alone, but brought along his eldest son who is also known as a football fan, Prince George.

Both looked dapper in sailor blue suits and cross-striped ties. The day before the match took place, Prince William even tweeted words of support for Harry Kane et al.

“We are so proud of you all @england, just one last push to finish the job! Go out there and show the world what you’re made of. We believe. W (We are all very proud of you @england, just one step again to finish it! Go and  show the world who you believe in),” wrote Prince William.

Prince William finally accepted the defeat of his country’s national team. However, he is still proud of the Three Lions’ achievements.

“This time it just wasn’t meant to be. We’re all still so proud of you. Onwards @England. (This time is not meant to be. We are still very proud of you. Keep going, @England),” he tweeted several after the match.
