Israeli attack on Rafah

Palestinian health officials said Israeli air strikes on the city of Rafah, South Gaza FOR4D, killed at least 35 people on Sunday (26/5/2024). The attacks hit refugee tents, while many others were trapped in the burning rubble. The Gaza Strip Health Authority said women and children made up the majority of those killed. Dozens of others were injured. Sunday’s attack came two days after the International Court of Justice (ICC) ordered Israel to end its military offensive in Rafah.

Rafah’s condition

Rafah has hosted more than a million people – about half of the Gaza Strip’s population – who were displaced from other areas of the Gaza Strip. Most of them have escaped repeatedly. Hundreds of thousands of refugees crowded into squalid tents in and around the city FOR4D, which is located at the southern tip of the Gaza Strip and borders Egypt. Netanyahu insisted that Israel must destroy what he called the last remaining Hamas battalion in Rafah.
